AMRITSAR: The Babbar Khalsa Sept. 24th reiterated its demand for a separate “Khalistan” here.

The three-page statement, released to the press by Onkar Singh, the elder brother of the Akal Takht acting Jathedar, said the government was constantly torturing the Sikhs and they were being discriminated against.

It said that since the last 17 years, the Sikhs are at the receiving end, and 1.5 lakh young men had been killed or are languishing in jails. It said the B.K.I. had started the struggle for Khalistan in 1978 and the struggle was still on. The statement, addressed to the Akal Takht acting Jathedar, Prof Manjit Singh, urged him to adopt the Khalistan resolution at the convention and read out the same.
