CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Babbar Akali Dal has condemned the killing of six farmers of Nathuke Bur of Amritsar district by the Indian Army and the government action in preventing people from attending the last rites. In a statement here Bhai Rajinderpal Singh a member of the party’s ad hoc committee said that while the Governor “apologized” for the killings the State Government’s action in preventing people’s participation in the last rites and the arrest of certain Members of Parliament and others (including Simranjit Singh Mann who were subsequently released) defied all logic. Bhai Rajinderpal Singh asked the Government to desist from brutal actions. The committee also condemned the arrest of several members of the family of Master Amrik Singh of Jalandhar a B.K.I activist. The citizens expected the government to behave in a civilized manner and respect the people’s human rights.
