Sarbat Khalsa Samalen on June 6

Amritsar: Baba Joginder Singh is in full command of the United Shiromani Akali Dal and observing the Genocide week with the solemnity it deserves. The final prayers would be in the form of a big Diwan at Manji Sahib on June 6, 1985. Thousands of Sikhs are daily pouring into the Holy City to participate in the prayers and also to extend their solidarity with Baba Joginder Singh. Baba Ji categorically declared that Sikhs are a peaceful people and they would continue with their struggle in a peaceful manner. “There is no place for violence against the innocent in

Sikh religion” he said. “Sikh religion only fights oppression and injustice and protects the weak and the innocent irrespective of their religious beliefs,” he explained.

Sant Harchand Singh Longowal and his coterie will observe the martyrdom day on June 6 in a remote village in the Malwa region. They would assemble to pray for the peace of all those killed in army action. They have decided not to participate in the diwan at Amritsar in view of their lost credibility with the Sikh masses.
