CHANDIGARH: Babbar Khalsa International in a statement issued here claimed responsibility for the assassination of Bhola Nath Masoom, a journalist of Rajpura, for his partisan and tendentious reporting despite warnings to him. The B.K.I. said that it respected those newspapers and their reporters who wrote truthfully and impartially, It took note of the fact that certain newspapers and their reporters were deliberately trying to discredit the Khalistan movement.
The statement was signed by Bhai Wadhawa Singh Babbar. It said that journalists whichever community they may belong to had a right to point to the negative aspects of the militant movement but they must also state positive aspects. A correct and balanced news even if critical of the militants movement would be welcomed by the B.K.1. In this connection, the B.K.I. said that of late a spate of features, news and reports had appeared in a section of the media which either overlooked the existence and strength of the militant movement or had projected’ altogether subjective pictures.
The militants would not tolerate this kind of journalism and would in their own way resist such tendencies.
