CHANDIGARH: The autonomy for Punjab tops the 9point demand charter on which the dissident Congress MP, Jagmeet Singh Brar, has decided to launch “Lok Yudh” from October 31 next ‘under the ruling party flag.

Addressing a news conference here last week, Brar, who has been? Expelled from the active member ship of the Congress for antiparty activities, said the thrust of the Lok Yudh would be to forge Hindu Sikh unity. He expressed the hope that his charter of demands would become the rallying point for all the Punjabis living in India and abroad.

He said the Lok Yudh would provide an alternative to the present regime of corruption” in Punjab within the Congress and put up candidates in the next election. For him, it would be a fight between the patriots and the traitors, starting from Mukisar, the Lok Yudh match would terminate at Amritsar the next day. Brar filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court for clear direction to the Punjab government against obstructing the march, said he was for autonomy for b within the framework of the Constitution, He reiterated the demand for apology from the Prime Minister for Operation Bluestar saying the Sikh sentiments were hurt and it must be realized by the rulers.

Yet another demand is regarding the river water issue. He demanded all the awards and agreements arrived so far on the appointment of river waters should be scrapped along with Sections 78 to 80 of the Punjab Reorganization Act. Haryana and Rajasthan should pay royally for the use of the Punjab river waters.

‘Other demands include punishment to the guilty of November, 1984 violence against the Sikhs, second language status to Punjabi in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, dual citizenship status ‘and more employment opportunities.
