CHANDIGARH: Atinderpal Singh independent MP from Patiala said if the Indian govt was serious about solving the Punjab problem it must revoke all repressive laws anbd allow underground leaders to come out openly.
Talking to newsmen Atinderpal Singh said all Sikhs now in jail without trial should be set free. The problem in Punjab was not of terrorism but of the lack of control and lack of accountability as far as the police was concerned.
Elections were no solution to the problem. Those repeatedly demanding elections were worse than Sant Harchand Singh Longowal who had at least secured some sort of accord. He said so long as political rights were not given to Punjab there could be no solution to the problem.
He was evasive when asked if he felt elections were no solution why had he contested the election from Patiala.
