CHICAGO,IL: Prem Lalvani, chair and Bhailal M. Patel and Rajinder Singh Mago, co-chairs of the 12th Annual Asian American Coalition of Chicago Lunar  New Year Celebration, announced that the Coalition will hold its Lunar New Year gala the evening Of Saturday, February 11, 1995 at Hyatt Regency O’Hare, 9300 West Bryn Mawr Avenue in Rosemont, Mlinois, preceded by workshops and exhibits during the day.

This year’s theme is, “Strengthening the Coalition.” Seminar topics will include political education and small business development. Special efforts are “being made to reemit youth involvement in this year’s Celebration. “The 12th Annual Asian American Coalition of Chicago Lunar New Year 1995 Celebration will be dedicated to the future generations of Asian Americans, our youth, who are our precious treasure,” said Lalvani. Every year different Asian community takes tum playing host, and this year it is the Asian Indian American community. Cohosts are: Alliance of Midwest India Associations, Federation of India Associations and the Sikh American Heritage Organization. Event planning committee consists of all Asian American Communities. Sikh Americans are well established and influential component of Asian Americans of Chicago with seats on several Asian American Advisory Councils to elected officials.

Lunar New Year is traditionally the singh largest organized annual event in Chicago’s Asian American community, which numbers over 300.000. Over 1,200 people are expected to attend the event Including the governor, mayor Senators and congressman.
