Mahatma Gandhi Murder by Nathuram V Godse

Overview

This is a copy of the original court document filed by Nathuram V Godse explaining why he killed Gandhi.

It is interesting to note that he was offended how Gandhi described “…Shivaji, Rana Pratap and Guru Govind Singh as misguided patriots, Gandhiji has simply displayed his self-conceit. Each of these heroes resisted unprovoked aggression on their country, protected the people against atrocities and outrages and won back their motherland from the invader. All the Gandhiji did during over 30 years of undisputed leadership was to shut his eyes to the desecration of temples, to forcible and fraudulent conversions and outrages of women and to lose one-third of the country. I must declare that Gandhiji with all his greatness was a pigmy before these giants and his condemnation of these heroes was, to say the least, most presumptuous.” (page 22).
