BOMBAY: The Army was put on alerts in sensitive areas of south Bombay last week as tension gripped the city following the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Prem Kumar Sharma, according to the police, several localities in South Bombay observed a total bandh to protest against the killing.

The police, State reserve police and other para military forces had been deployed in Kalbadevi, Thakurdwar, Bhuleshwar and Khetwadi, which form part of Sharma’s constituency,

 

Meanwhile, an owner of a cycle shop had been arrested in connection with the murder of Sharma at Khetwadi,

The police said one of the assassins on a cycle intercepted Sharma’s car and another pumped four bullets into him. Veena Sharma and the driver who were seriously injured in the shootout are reportedly out of danger.
