CHANDIGARH: The Western Command Headquarters here have meanwhile categorically denied any involvement of their jawans in the Nehan incident in which men of Himachal Pradesh police and Home Guards were beaten up by suspected Army jawans. Ruling out the hand of even the Central Command an Army spokesman said we have no information whatsoever about it which we would have had even if the Central Command had carried out any such action. Addressing a Press conference on April 3 he instead accused the police of stage-managing the entire event the day Brig S. S. Mann began inquiring into the Paonta incident to save themselves from repercussions of being at fault. The beating up and humiliation of Captain Gajenders Singh went unreported by both the Press and the police and no action was taken against the erring police officers the spokesman said He produced 4 copy of the medical examination report of Captain which contrary to the statement of Inspector General of Police HQ R.P.Kurvel says he was not in the state of intoxication
The medical examination which was conducted on Gajenders request lists bruises and cuts on his body.
Late on Friday evening Deputy Commissioner K.C. Vermahad informed Bag Mann about the willingness of guilty police officers to publicly apologize for the Paenta incident.
