BANGALORE: Thos upended Congress leader and former union minister Arjun Singh has ruled out any “compromise or negotiation with the party high command on the issues raised by him. Instead, he has called for their cohesive leadership at the Center for involving each and every Congressman in the process of liberalization and for ensuring that economic reforms took care of the poor

Speaking at “Meet the Press program organized by the Bangalore Reporters’ Guild hero last week, Singh said that the issued raised by him could very well be discussed and a way out found. ”Negotiating or bar3 gaining on these issues is a thing which is not possible,” he said.

“The phase of one charismatic leadership is Congress is over. Under the charismatic Leadership everything is to be covered. But now things have changed. Issues have become important than the person. All should be equally involved in the process of addressing the issues” Singh said,

When asked why he has been gun-20ning against Narasimha Rao as the Congress had faced similar crisis under the leadership of Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi Singh said:”Whenever things went wrong in the past corrective measures used to broken. But today that kind of corrective follow up is fully lacking.”

Singh also warned against factional agencies raising their ugly heads threatening the secular fabric of the polity if the Congress did not retain its state credentials. He was not happy with the way the Narasimha Rao Government dealt with the corruption particularly the securities scam bringing bad name both to the Government and he раrtу.

Singh categorically ruled out the possibility of holding modern elections to the Lok Sabha maintaining that Congress has been given man date for ruling for a full five year term 28 On the need for having a mid-term Prime Minister Singh quipped that the proposition has not been conceived.
