Dear Mr Clark,
Once again I am whiting you with a sad story and a request that Amnesty help in any way it can.
This story ran recently in the Indo-Canadian Times and World Sikh News.
It tells of the arrest of two Sikhs in Abu Dubai. They had a Granth Sahib (Sikh scriptures) in their home and were conducting religious services every Friday. Abu Dubai is a Muslim monotheistic state which denies the freedom of choice in religion.
Our sources state that a Muslim Court will decide their fate. In the meantime these two are still detained. Sikhs are asking for their immediate release as well as the return of their holy book which was also seized. The two Sikhs involved are successful business men running their own businesses. Their only crime is that of attempting to practice their own religion in the privacy of their own homes.
