NEW YORK: The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by Dr. Gurpartap Singh Birk and others against the decision of the State Supreme Court and upheld its verdict of trial by a Federal Court. Dr. Birk and his companions were arrested in connection with an alleged conspiracy to assassinate former Haryana Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal, The district judge had dismissed the case as the prosecution had failed to establish that Bhajan Lal was a state guest The state had appealed the Judgement of the district judge.
Dr. Birk is currently lodged in a Pennsylvania prison whereas Jasbir Singh Sandhu and the rest are in New Orleans jail.
