CALICUT, India: Gurdayal Singh (26), a fourth year electrical engineering student of the Regional Engineering College, Calicut jumped to his death from the third floor of the main college building late on Saturday night.
Gurdayal Singh, who hailed from Delhi, was reportedly driven to suicide by economic hardship.
Singh was finding it difficult to meet his educational expenses after his family suffered heavy losses in the anti-Sikh riots in the Capital that followed Mrs. Gandhi’s assassination. He had been forced to earn for his education by doing jobs on the campus. The Kunnamangalam police are investigating.
