Dear Editor, Yet another dimension of Indian state terrorism has been revealed with the recent execution of Sikh religious leader S.Gurbachan Singh Manochahal in a faked police encounter. This is the second Sikh religious leader to meet with this fate in the hands of Punjab Police since the beginning of the New Year. As with Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaonke, Manochahal was detained and tortured by police and said to be “killed while attempting to escape.”

This tactic used by Indian police and Paramilitary forces has long been recognized by international human rights organizations, yet thousands of Sikhs continue to be murdered in this way every year.

‘This terrorism must end. The international media and human rights organizations must join in condemning these acts of murder and in exposing these faked police encounters before more leaders and Sikhs are lost.
