The honor shown by the Sikh Nation for its two brave Generals Bhai Harjinder Singh “Jinda” and Bhai Sukhdev Singh “Sukha” is much higher than Gen. Vaidya received from the then Government of India. In an issue of “India Today,” following the assassination, Gen, Vaidya’s widow said, “By providing us only one bodyguard, the Government had put my husband’s life in a plate and gave to the Sikhs.” Another reader of “India Today” wrote, in a leer to the editor, “It is a shame that neither the Prime Minister nor the President of India felt any importance to attend the funeral of Vaidya.”

Sikh Community all over the World had prayed for these departing souls. Here in New Orleans we listened to the Salokas of 5th Guru. In the honor of these brave Sikhs, the construction of Gurdwara Sahib continued during the time of their martyrdom!

The present writer often heard and justified some dedicated Sikhs criticizing the so called Sikh leaders (?) for the too frequent change of their political stand. During such discussion most of the times the firm stand of Bhai “Jinda” and Bhai “Sukha” was appreciated with the saying,” Only special mothers give birth to such brave men!”
