ISLAMABAD: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Amanullah Khan was arrested near the border town of Chakothi close to line of control in Pakistan occupied Kashmir reports received from Muzaffarabad said Wednesday night.
The reports claimed that Khan was apparently asked to come for a meeting and then taken into custody along with some 100 other IKLF activists who had also been rounded up.
It said at least 12 persons were killed in police firing near Chinari couple of kms from the border area. The number of injured in police firing baton-charge by security forces and stone throwing by the marchers were put at over 100.
The reports said the toll in the police firing was likely to rise.
Addressing a news conference the prime minister of Pakistan occupied Kashmir Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan however did no mention anything about the JKLF leader arrest and only said those militants detained tad been released.
