JALANDHAR: There will be a by-election to the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat on May 19. The vacancy arose due to the death of the sitting Congress(I) M.P. Yash. The Congress(I) is closely watching the Akali situation before deciding about their candidate. The Badal Akali Dal, keen to establish its identity after receiving setbacks in the last poll, has projected Kuldip Singh Wadala as its candidate. Bhai Manjit Singh’s Akali faction has floated the name of Gurtej Singh. The Mann Akali Dal, too, is keen to put up its own nominee but has not made known: in public any name so far.
