NEW DELHI (PTI): A major Sikh political party has suggested that India should retaliate to Pakistan national assembly’s resolution on the Ramjanama Bhoomi Babri Masjid by demanding “Vatican status” for Nankana Sahib, a religious Sikh shrine in Pakistan,

The Akali Dal (Longowal) party, in a statement suggested that the Indian parliament should also adopt a resolution on Nankana Sahib, the birth place of the first Sikh Guru, Nanak, and India also should raise this issue at international for a, including the Nam Summit at Jakarta.

Party spokesman, Jagdev Singh Bakshi, said Pakistan’s attempt to internationalize the Kashmir issue should be countered by raising the issue of the Mohajirs, migrants of Indian origin, in Sindh province who it claimed were being “tortured and persecuted” by the Nawaz Sharif government.

India should know that the policy of soft-pedaling with Pakistan would not pay as Islamabad understands only the policy of tit for tat,” Bakshi said.
