WASHINGTON: Baba Iqbal Singh Ji along with students from the Akal Academy Baru Sahib is visiting us in order to spread the Guru Nanak mission and make us aware of the different tasks undertaken by the Akal Academy which is a residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Education. The Akal Academy Baru Sahib is an endeavor in which modern scientific education is combined with spiritual education (Brahm Vidya) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji It teaches the students not only worldly knowledge but also trains them with moral and spiriwal values The idea of such an institution was first conceived by Sant Attar Singh Ji and he laid the foundation stone of “Guru Nanak Spiritual University” at Baru Sahib in 1956.as“ Akal Academy”. This place described by Sant Ji as “Tapoo Bhumi” (now known as Baru Sahib) is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Himalayas approximately 100 miles Northeast of Poanta Sahib near Raigarhin Himachal Pradash. Admission to Akal Academy is open to all irrespective of caste creed and color and is given only by merit. Akal Academy also admits students who do not have any financial resources of their own to pursue such quality education. Education of these students is totally funded by special donations from individuals who sponsor them. The donations are constantly solicited for such sponsorships.
