NEW DELHI: Pilots of Air India country’s international carrier Monday unconditionally called off their 16-day old strike and will resume duties with immediate effect.
This followed an agreement between the civil aviation ministry and the Indian pilots guild (EPG) here after four days of talks.
According to civil aviation secretary A V Ganesan the guild has without any reservations withdrawn the May 5 directive asking pilots not to fly.
Ganesan said suspension orders served on 20 pilots including some from the guild during the strike period have been revoked.
While the ministry was represented by Ganesan during the discussions the guild was represented by a four member delegation which included its president and general secretary Capt.Kenneth Khan and Capt.B.P.Singh respectively.
Ganesan assured the guild that a Suitable mechanism would be evolved in due time in regard to implementation of the two year old bilateral agreement with the management and provisions of the aircraft act.
BOMBAY: Mother Teresa will lead a medical mission to Bangladesh.
Talking to newspersons on Tuesday a spokesman said the team comprising four doctors and two nurses would depart within a week and return after a fortnight.
The team drawn from a hospital aided in Bombay would carry essential medicines to check epidemics besides lifesaving equipment. A request for help was received recently from Mother Teresa.
