NEW DELHI (PTI): The All India Babri Masjid Action Committee (AIBMAC) leader Jawed Habib Dec.14 announced his resignation from the National Integration Council (NIC) protesting against the “macabre dance of destruction” in Ayodhya on Sunday and the failure of the national leaders to foil the destruction of the Babari masjid.
He also demanded the reconstruction of the masjid in Ayodhya before the next republic day which falls on January 26.
He said he had expected the president the prime minister and his cabinet to have resigned “at this murder of democracy and secularism.”
“They owe a national apology for this betrayal of trust and promise” Habib said adding that leaders of the opposition parties should have also resigned “for their abject failure…to foil this nefarious carnage.”
“They failed but as one without any authority and power except that of my feeble conscience hereby announce my resignation from the membership of NIC a post it would have otherwise loved to hold” Habib said in a statement.
