CHANDIGARH: An Agriculture Inspector and five militants were among 15 persons killed and eight militants arrested in the northern Indian state of Punjab on May 12, police said.

A woman, Veero, was hanged to death by unidentified persons in village Chuslewel in the same district, an Amritsar report said.

Gunmen shot dead Darshan Singh, an agriculture inspector at a farm in Ludhiana district. They also shot at and injured another person before fleecing.

Bodies of two militants, one of them identified as Surjit Singh, a listed militant of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), were recovered from a place near Chalaki in Fatehgarh Sahib District.
