PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN, Nov 17, Reuter: An Afghan rocket hit a north-western Pakistani border village on Wednesday killing 10 people and injuring 15, government officials said.
Meanwhile, the Soviet backed Afghan authorities said six people died in rebel rocket attacks on Wednesday on the eastern towns of Jalalabad and Gardez.
The Pakistani officials earlier said an unspecified number of rockets landed in the market at Landay Kaga, in the tribal area bordering the eastern Afghan province of Kunar.
But they later corrected their report saying only one rocket hit the market.
The rebel rockets killed three people and injured seven at Jalalabad, Capital of Nangarhar province the official Kabul radio said. Three people were killed and two injured at Gardez, capital of Paktia province.
There was no immediate information about the type of rocket fired into Pakistan.
Afghanistan recently received long-range SS-1 “SCUD” missiles from the Soviet Union to counter growing rocket attacks on cities by western backed rebels.
Several SCUDS have landed near the Pakistani border in recent weeks without causing much damage, according to rebel sources.
