UNITED NATIONS: Afghanistan has charged Pakistan with large scale “flagrant violations” of the Geneva accords under which Soviet troops withdrew, saying Islamabad has stepped up aid and training to rebels since the agreements were signed.

It also charged the United States with supplying arms to the extremists in violations of the accord. As a guarantor, the U.S. should work for the efficient functioning of the agreements and should not “ignore its own obligations,” it said.

“By the delivery of advanced weapons to the extremists, the United States is becoming an involved party to the conflict.” No pretext or justification for the supply of arms holds water and such acts are only aimed at continuation of aggression, Afghanistan said in a document circulated among the Security Council members.

The “most naked ones” among the thousands of “open violations” include training and arming of “tens of thousands” of extremists, dispatch of United States made weapons to rebels through Pakistan and the involvement of Pakistan military and militia forces in the aggression against Afghanistan, the document said.
