NEW DELHI, (PTI): The Afghan government assured full protection to the people of Indian origin and described the recent attacks on them in Kabul as an attempt by some groups to spoil the Indo-Afghan relations.
Addressing a press conference here, the New Afghan Charge D” Affairs, engineer Wazir Ahmed, said the safety of Hindus and Sikhs “is guaranteed.”
As the Afghan diplomat met presspersons, some Sikhs from Afghanistan were seen in the Embassy premises making enquiries about the law and order situation in Kabul, In the recent past there had been attacks on the lives and properties of Hindus and Sikhs in and around the Afghan capital Kabul, giving rise to peculations about their future: Prospects in the country under a new government.
Ahmed said the interim president, Prof, Sibgatullah Mojaddidi, would hand Over power to the Jehad council possibility.
The council would then name his successor, he added.”
