NEW DELHI: Pro-Hindu 3haratiya Janata Party BJP leader al Krishna Advani on Thursday dismissed as baseless the Congress (I)’s allegation of a nexus between the BJP and Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar in the dissolution of the Lok Sabha.
Advani told a news conference here that he was “flabbergasted” by the Congress-I accusation that the speaker was also involved in the “conspiracy” between the Prime Minister and some opposition parties in the dissolution of the lower house.
He said even though the BJP demanded elections after the fall of the V.P.Singh government in November last it was reconciled to the continuation of the Chandra Shekhar government for a reasonably long period.
He also said it was astounding to say that the recent political developments occurred because of a nexus between the Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar and the BJP.
The BJP leader said the Congress-I which managed to get 193 seats in the 1989 Lok Sabha elections was “leading towards an all-time-low in the coming elections.”
