AMRITSAR: Panthic Committee (Manochahal) and four militant organizations associated with it have taken serious notice of admissions given by Guru Nanak Dev University and other educational institutions of Punjab to students from other states.

The committee said that those admissions were an encroachment on the rights of the Punjab students On one hand Punjab students had been denied admission to the Chandigarh medical college ‘on the ground that the seats were reserved for those living in the union territory on the other hand the students of Punjab had been eased out by throwing open the seats in Punjab institutions to the residents of other states on the ground that merit was being given preference. Admissions to technical institutions in Delhi are limited to the local students. Similarly the Haryana students alone are given admissions to Kurkshetra and other Haryana based universities.
