MYSORE: Film actor Sanjay Khan received burns over 60 percent of his body as a fire swept in the sets of a television studio here killing 40 people, on February 8. The actor and his crew were filming a television serial in the studio. The tragedy occurred when fireworks started as a part of a wedding scene ignited fabric, coconut fronds and hay used to create a rural atmosphere.

The doors of the studio were locked to keep out spectators and this proved to be a deathtrap. Many bodies were found near the door.

Fourteen people were injured in the fire and ten of them were described by authorities to be in critical condition.
