CHANDIGARH, August 31: Two intruders and an Akali Dal activist were among the four persons gunned down while security forces nabbed eleven ultras in Punjab during the past 24 hours reports UNI.
Two intruders were shot dead in separate encounters with the Border Security Force one in Gurdaspur district and the other in Ferozepur district last night.
Two gunmen waylaid Sarpanch Chanran Singh near his home village Duldhi Majra in Ropar district and shot him dead this afternoon.
The victim was a former chairman of the Roapr marketing committee and an active Akali Dal (L) worker.
In another incident, four gunmen forcibly entered the house of one Tarsem Singh at Dhapai village in Batala police district (Gurdaspur) and shot him dead last night.
The Batala police district chief said that Tarsem Singh who was released on bail last month, had become a victim of inter gang rivalry.
Security forces shot at and wounded one Harbans Singh, an employee of a railway workshop when he ignored their signal 4 stop near Nag village in Majit police district last night.
The Jalandhar district police arrested eleven militants during various raids in the district.
