CHANDIGARH: A hapless father, Mr Malkiat Singh, who is a Naik in the RPF at Ferozepore, has in a representation to the Prime Minister pleaded that he and his family members be sent to jail to save them from being killed.
A resident of Rampura village in Bathinda, Mr Malkiat Singh fears murder at the hands of the police and certain culprits who had kidnaped his minor daughter, Gurjit, alias Guddi, in October 1989, The culprits were identified and traced and under tremendous pressure from the residents of the village as well as the association for democratic rights the culprits were also arrested.
Since then Mr Malkiat Singh is under police pressure to withdraw. The case or face the consequences. In his application to the Prime Minister, the scared father has said he does not want justice but impoundment because the police’s shielding the culprits who kidnaped and raped his daughter. In support of the charge, the father has produced a medical certificate issued on October 15. Even the bail of the said culprits was rejected by the court.
The father now fears that the police may release one or both the accused and in the process harm him and his family. He has sent representations to various state officials for justice and protection. “If anybody in my family is killed the responsibility will be of the DSP, Phul, and the SHO concerned besides the district administration”, the representation reads.
The Prime Minister’s office has acknowledged the representation. It is dated September 26.
