PATIALA: Congress Member of Parliament Jagmeet Singh Brar at a press conference here last week said that the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal dispute was a “dead issue” since the day Punjab Was not invited to share the Yamuna waters while the five partner states including Delhi had signed an agreement recently to Share its waters.

Brar said his statement was on the basis of his recent meeting with the Union Irrigator V.C. Shukla. Brar claimed that it was Shukla who had told him that after the signing of the Yamuna agreement on the basis of international riparian law Haryana and other states had “completely lost their claim on the Satluj waters.”

Reacting to the largely attended rallies of Badal Brar said that he was cashing in on the resentment against the corrupt Punjab ministers and the police atrocities being inflicted on the common man. The suppressed masses have no alternative except Badal to give vent to their feelings and if Beant Singh’s Government continued with its present anti-people and corrupt policies Congress rule may never return to Punjab as had happened in West Bengal.
