ZEERA (FEROZEPORE): Leaders of the Akali Dal (Amritsar) June 18 lashed out at Parkash Singh Badal president of the Akali Dal (Badal) for challenging the authority of Akal Takht. A conference was organized here as a part of the series of conference planned by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) to mobilize people against Badal and the government. Gurcharan Singh Tohra President of the SGPC said those who had attainted political positions with the support of Sikhs and Akal Takht were now challenging the authority of the top Sikh temporal seal

The SGPC chief made a seething attack on the central and state governments saying that corruption was rampant there.

Jagdey Singh Talwandi said Badal was a traitor Barnala alleged corruption was Rampant in the central and state governments

Simranjit Singh Mann said the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were killing Afghans which could pose a serious threat to the country as Muslims of the World would unite against India. He said the central government was not bothered about the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab problems Other Akali leaders were not so strident as Capt. Kanwaljit Singh vowed to merge the Dal (L) with the Badal followers.
