BARODA: The Bharatiya Janata Pany (BJP) economic resolution on June 11 1994 unanimously rejected the “Rao model” of economic development and demanded its replacement with the “Swadeshi model” based on Mahatma Gandhi’s Ram Rajya and Din Dayal “integral humanism.”
The national council also out rightly rejected the General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs (GATT) and emphasized the importance of Agriculture irrigation and rural development as an engine of growth in the Indian context
On the sugar issue the party demanded the resignation of Union Food Minister Kalpa Nath Rai charging that “sugar muddle” had been deliberately created by the Government to raise massive funds for the ensuing elections.
Moving the resolution BJP leader Satish Chandra Agarwal lashed out at the Centers economic policy and described it as anti-people and said it was inflationary which had increased fiscal deficit and foreign debt.
