SAS NAGAR: Perhaps it is a case for human rights groups to sit up and take note. Is it a case of death in a police encounter or the snuffling lives of two young men following physical torture? Two unidentified attackers were killed during an ambush on policemen near Dehri village under Sohana police station June 5. So says ‘story. However the Postmortem conducted on the youths here debunks the police version clearly showing it to be a case of to police sources at Sohana near here the ambush was supposed to have taken place around 9:15 pm.
A police party was said been bringing three accused persons to Kharar from courts at Ambala. The accused were seated in the Gypsy of tie SHO Kharar Surjit Singh while the DSP. Kharar H.P. Singh was travelling in another Gypsy. When the vehicles came near Dehri village the SHO’s reportedly came under gunfire from some persons. The vehicle came to a stop following a tire puncture during the firing. The policemen in both jeeps took up positions and fired back in self-defence.
In the meantime according to the police version the accused persons Baldev Singh Bachan Singh and Onkar Singh escaped the Kharar ‘SHO and Constable Kishan Singh were stated to have been injured two of the five or six attackers were killed and their bodies were found on the scene. The bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital here for a postmortem examination. Later they were taken away by the police and cremated according 16 the local DSP Purshotam Singh. The question is why the police showed unusual hurry in cremating the bodies = interestingly the postmortem Repons tell a tale of a different kind. The reports according to sources reveal that one of the deceased underwent physical torture and tater died due to gunshot injuries on his skull which were sufficient in an ordinary case like this to cause death The second person the report said was also tortured and beaten and a weapon injury on his brain and skull caused his death more than the gunshot injury on his chest. __One Of the deceased was aged about 26 with & height of Sit.7 inches while the other was about 30 and stood 5ft.8 in. Both had long hair and beards.
In the case of the 26-year-old man the Sources said the skull the eyes and the brain were blown off and the membrane present showed hemorrhage. A bum mark (4 cm by 1/2.cm) on the right side of the chest at the third intercostal space appeared to be from a hot object. The tower abdomen and the gluteal region showed abrasions which were diffused and the number could not be counted the abrasions appeared to be from blunt blows. The lower part of the cavity showed hemorrhage.
The bladder was raptured the sources said and could be due to blunt injuries in the abdomen. When sources said in the case of the 30-year-old man there were lacerated injuries in the temporal region and skull with the brain coming ‘out. On opening the skull the sources said bones were found to be fractured and the brain was cut in two slices giving the impression that if was not a gunshot injury. No outlets and no bullets were found. The skull injury appeared to be from some sharp edged weapon
In the case of this youth there were abrasion injuries seven on the right side and eight on the left. Abrasion injuries in the gluteal region were diffused. A gunshot injury at the fifth intercostal space on the night side of the chest 6 cm from the sternum was an inlet. The outlet was posteriorly situated on the right side of the chest at the sixth intercostal space 5 cm from the vertebral area. There were abrasion injuries ‘on the thighs too added the report.
