PATIALA: Paramjit Singh Khera, Controller of Examinations, Punjabi University, has alleged that a police party from Sangrur forcibly took him away from his residence on the campus, last week.

Narrating his brief ordeal to the newsmen, here, Khera said that the policemen manhandled him when he protested and threatened to take him to the Bhakra canal for “setting him right.” An unsuspecting Khera accompanied the cop to the gate of his house, when suddenly the latter barked an order, at which the policemen waiting outside bundled him into their vehicle.

So immense was the hurry of the cops that Khera, who was bareheaded and in shorts, was not even given a second to get dressed. His slippers were also left outside his house, When Khera’s wife came out to call him, and she was greeted by the sight of his abandoned slippers. Suspecting foul play, she phoned his relations in the Pauala city, who informed Rehit Chaudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police.
