BATALA: Six projects under United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Punjab will provide technological Support to small scale industries in the state.

The Punjab Government had submitted 10 project reports for different “groups of small scale industries under the UNDP program and the Finance Ministry had recommended all of the Projects.

These projects are for setting up an institute for machine tool and technology at Batala, an institute for auto parts technology, Ludhiana, a research and development center for rubber goods, Jalandhar, a research and development center for bicycle, phase II, Ludhiana, and institute for rerolling technology, Mandi Gobindgarh, and a research and development center for electrical goods, Raipur.

The UNDP has provided a grant of $6.8 million (approx. Rs.24 crore) and the state government is to provide about Rs 12 crore for the two projects for machine tools and auto parts.
