MARKHAM: Dubbing themselves the Jag busters about a dozen protesters marched outside disgraced MP Jag Bhaduria’s home Jan.30 demanding that he resign.

Like other protesters and the Liberal riding association Benedetti said that Bhaunda should resign over allegations he fudged his academic qualifications.

Businessman Richard Van Seters carried a petition he hopes to get 30,000 to 40,000 signatures on in an attempt to oust Bhaduria from office.

The process is flawed in that it doesn’t allow us to recall (an MP) after someone has done something like this Van Seters said adding that the petition will be circulated a  business’s mails and homes in the Markham-Whit church Stouffville riding.

Bhaduria resigned from the Liberal caucus to sit as an independent Thursday after it was alleged he didn’t have the academic credentials he claimed He had earlier apologized for poison pen letters he sent to the Toronto school board in 1989.

The New-Delhi born Bhaduria 50 who was a teacher at the time claimed he had been passed over for promotion because of racial discrimination.

On his candidate profile for the Oct.25 election Bhaduria listed LLB (Int) after his name in addition to other academic credentials Bhaduria said this meant LLB (Intermediate).

However the Liberal party view was that Bhaduria had claimed to have a law degree. In fact he attended the University of London for two years falling far short of completing the four-year law program.
