KUALA LUMPUR: India and Malaysia have agreed to revive a pact between Kuala Limper’s Binariang Sdn Bhd and New Delhi’s Doordarshan for a joint venture satellite television service. The pact was signed under the previous Indian government by Binariang unit Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd and the state-owned Doordarshan television station, Malaysian Information Minister Mohamed Rahmat said after meeting Indian Foreign Minister Inder Kumar Guiral on Monday. “We hope the agreement can be implemented soon,” Mohammad Rahmat was quoted as saying by be mama after talks with Gujral, who is on a three day visit to Malaysia. Mohamed said both signatories were working out details of the pact. Measat launched Malaysia’s first communications Satellite in January and is scheduled to launch another in October. Malaysian tycoon Ananda Krishnan, who controls the company, was at Monday’s meeting with Mohamed Rahmat and Gujral.
