KOCHL: The country’s premier space research organization, ISRO, has come under a cloud with one of its scientists being arrested and charged with espionage along with two women from. Maldives.
The scientist, D. Sasikumar, who was the Deputy Director at the fabrication wing of the Liquid Propulsion Center of the ISRO at ‘Thiruvananthapuram, was transferred to Ahmedabad recently when authorities came to know of his links with Mariam Rasheeda, a Maidivian national reportedly employed with the Male National Security Service, who was staying at the State capital. Sasikumar was arrested in Ahmedabad for allegedly leaking secret information to Rasheeda and remanded to custody till Dec.2. Rasheeda, along with another Maldivian, Fouzia, had also been arrested and charged under the Official Secrets Act for espionage. ‘The two foreign nationals have been, remanded to judicial custody,
Fouzia was arrested in Banga lore while she was trying to leave the country, the police said. The police had recovered several in criminating documents from her and the espionage charges were mainly against her, sources said.
