CHANDIGARH: Punjab police men Raj Kiran Singh and Jagjit Singh, admitted in the local hospital P.G1, told the media that the people of Andhra Pradesh often raised slogans against them with shouts of” ‘go back.” These police men were injured in the bomb explosion which killed their Commandant Gurdeep Singh Sahi and five other Punjab policemen.
The two injured policemen further revealed that the Andhra policemen were so scared of the Naxalites that they do not wear even their uniforms.” We ventured into the areas where the Andhra policemen were afraid of going,” they stated. Ray Kiran said that they were going to organize interception in the forest but as they entered the Naxalite dominated area, one of the Andhra police guides deserted them. Only the police post chief (S.H.0.) accompanied them. Recalling the blast, Raj Kiran said that Sahi had an arm blown off in the explosion. Even after the explosion, there was firing for more than half an hour in which Sahi’s thigh was pierced by a bullet. He died a little later, Help came after five hours that too from a group of Punjab commandos, he said.
