I am writing this letter in Response to Dr. Gurmeet Singh Aulakh’s letter published in WSN on September 16, 1994, under the title “Sikh Nation must preserve sanctity of the Akal Takhat.” Timely printing of this letter will be highly appreciated. Garcharan Singh Dhillon Founder Member WSO USA The 1609 Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib laid the foundation of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and established the immortal institution of MIRI(Temporal) and PIRI (Spiritual). Si Akal Pakhat Sahib is a living symbol of the Sikh sovereignty and it is recognized and respected by the Sikhs as He Highest Authority. The intolerant fascist Brahmanical Delhi Government considers Si Akal Takhat Sahib a direct threat to their Regime. It is due to these reasons that in 1984 the evil Delhi Empire attacked Sri Harmander Sahib with tanks and heavy artillery and destroyed Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. They thought that the physical destruction of the Si Akal Takhat Sahib building would destroy the immortal institution of MIRI and PIRI. The brave sons and daughters of the Sikh Nation have once again demonstrated to the whole world that the institution of MIRI and PIRI is immortal and that the Sikhs will willingly and proudly make every Sacrifice to protect its sanctity.
The authority of Si Akal Takhat Sahib is vested in the duly appointed Jathedar Sahib of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. The Jathedar of Sri Akal ‘Takhat Sahib is answerable only to. Guru Panth and Guru Granth, under no circumstances is the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib answerable to any one individual. The Jathedar Sahib’s strength lies in his faith in Guru Granth and support from Guru Panth. It is up to the Guru Panth to provide directions and support to Jathedar Sahib, Without the Support of Guru Panth the Jathedar Sahib alone cannot accomplish the desired results.
On September 16, 1994, the World Sikh News published an article written by Dr. Gurmeet Singh Aulakh under the heading of “Sikh Nation Must Preserve the Sanctity of the Akal Takhat.” A close examination Of this article reveals the following: FABRICATION & EXAGGERATION: In the third paragraph of his article Dr. Aulakh refers to a letter allegedly written by the Foreign Secretary of India detailing the payment of Rs. 1.5 Crore to Jathedar Sahib. He makes this allegation based on the story published on August 20, 1994 in the Tribune an anti-Sikh newspaper. Three days after the publication of this allegation by the Tribune, the Foreign Secretary’s office categorically Stated that his office had not written any letter regarding Jathedar Sahib’’s ‘visit. The Foreign Secretary’s office labeled this as absolutely a false and fabricated story orchestrated by the opponents of Jathedar Sahib. A month after denial by the Foreign Secretary Dr. Aulakh continues to distribute a fabricated story published by an anti-Sikh newspaper. Dr. Aulakh knowingly and willfully took this action to support the anti-Sikh clement and damaged the reputation and integrity of the Highest Sikh authority. Dr. Aulakh’s action shows that:
1, He has more trust and faith in the fabricated story written by an anti-Sikh element in an anti-Sikh newspaper than in the integrity, honesty and dignity of the Jathedar Sahib of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. This is an absolute insult to the authority of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, the highest Sikh Institution.
- By spreading false rumors against the Jathedar Sahib of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Dr. Aulakh has played in to the hands of the Indian Government whose utmost desire is to disassociate the Sikhs from Sri Akal Takhat Sahib by creating doubts in their minds.
Both these acts are anti-Sikh and anti-Panth and Sikhs should hold Dr. Aulakh accountable for anti-Sikh and anti-Panth acts.
PROOF OF BURDEN in order to preserve the sanctity of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and honor and respect the position of Jathedar Sahib, Jathedar Manjit-Singh has appointed a five member Commission to investigate this matter; Jathedar Manjit Singh has urged all concerned individuals to submit evidence to this Commission. It is my understanding that the Commission has absolute authority to independently examine all evidences and impose appropriate sentence on the guilty party/ parties.
Now it is a challenge to Dr. Aulakh and other anti-Sikh elements involved in the fabrication and distribution of false charges against the Highest Sikh Authority to present their evidence to this commission. If Dr. Aulakh cannot prove his charges against Jathedar Sahib, the Sangat should boycott him until he appears before Singh Sahibs of all Takhat to publicly confess his anti-Panth acts and seek forgiveness.
CHARACTER OF AN HONEST LEADER: An honest leader always leads his people from the front line. He/She suffers with his people. He/She preaches love, unity, affection, mutual respect, tolerance and Self-sacrifices.
An honest leader does not confine hinyher self to the halls of the United States Congress, He/She docs not exploit honest people’s emotions by: Raising empty Slogans and delivering boasting speeches to the Confined audiences, He/She does not practice Brahminical policy of falsely accusing others and seek false self-praise.
Jathedar Sahib has invited Dr. Aulakh and other critics o Jathedar Sahib’s approach to come to Sri Amritsar Sahib and witness and experience the conditions under which they are working. This will also give Dr. Aulakh the opportunity to practice what he has been preaching to others for years. Aulakh cither should accept Jathedar Sahib’s invitation or accept that a duly appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib is the Highest Authority of the Sikhs. Remember President Nelson Mendella spent 28 years in a South African jail with his people before becoming President of that country.
HYPOGRISY: Dr. Aulakh has demanded that Jathedar Manjit Singh should issue certain Hukam Namas. On the one hand Dr. Aulakh is distributing the Tribune article to undermine the Jathedar’s authority and at the same time Dr. Aulakh is asking Jathedar Sahib to issue Hukam Namas. If Dr. Aulakh believes that Jathedar Manjit Singh is an incompetent and dishonest person, then why Mr. Aulakh is asking him to issue these Hukam Namas? ‘This is the height of hypocrisy.
The real reason for his criticism of Jathedar Sahibis jeaJousy and intolerance to the love and respect the Sikh masses have given to Jathedar Sahib.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: During the past 10 years Dr. Aulakh has collected and spent millions of dollars contributed by the dedicated Sikhs to lobby the United States Congress. What is the accomplishment of the past 10 years lobbying efforts? Punjab is still under Police and Paramilitary control, The police continue to arrest and kill innocent Sikh men, women and children at their free will and not even a single U.S. Senator has raised any concern about these atrocities. The puppet Government of Punjab has declared that they have crushed the Khalistan movement. Sikhs have limited resources and Sikhs cannot afford to continue to waste these limited resources in an unproductive manner, These resources should be used to work with countries who are sympathetic to the Sikh causes and are willing to lend support to the Sikh freedom: movement.
‘The article reveals Aulakh’s total disrespect for Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and his intolerance to other Sikhs viewpoints, including the viewpoint and authority of Jathedar Sahib.
By spreading these¢ false accusations against the Highest Authority 0 the Sikhs he has done more damage to the Sikh unity and Sikh cause than the damage done by the Indian Government. The Khalsa Panth should hold him accountable for his misdeed.
