Ref: Letter to the Editor by Mr. Mehar Singh of Ottawa published in the W.S.N. of 9/9/94.

Dear Editor,

The letter seems to have been written under very strong emotions. We have adopted the most peaceful and tolerant country in the world. We daily witness how its leaders and people calmly and coolly tackle the political., social and religious problems of the nation, Even the monstrous problem of threatened secession of a vast province like Quebec has not been able to provoke a single leader or a member of the general public on either side.

On the contrary it seems hard for us to shun the harsh, emotional and confrontationist attitudes to political and other problems as prevailing in the dirty politics of India.

Moreover, we cannot ignore Mr. Marchi’s steadfast and single handed fight against the continuous onslaughts of the racist media and political parties and groups, who are all out to stop the immigration of Asians and coloreds; they are always after Mr. Marchi’s blood.

Derogatory remarks and wild allegations against a respectable elected representative of the people do not be hove in the present day society much less by a Sikh, who is enjoined upon to be over polite and humble by the Gurus. Sharp tongue and poison pen go against the Very cause taken up. The early we adopt calm and cool attitudes to political and other problems, the letter for our community as well as for society as a whole, Ranjit Singh Takhar Ont., Canada.
