I want to draw your honest attention towards the sacrifices of the original Indians who laid down their lives at Buj Baj Ghat near Calcutta on Setx. 30, 1914. Gurbax Singh Malhi and Herb: Dhaliwal are M:P.S., Honorable Vali Uppal is a judge in the night court B.C. Dr. Ballinsh Dhillon and others are professors in the various Universities. One Sikh became the first Sikh Pilot with turban in R.C.A. Force. Inderjit Singh Bal is the first Sikh to become the member of the board.
Our elder Sikhs endured so many hardships and put their lives in danger, and remained hungry and thirsty due to the unlawful detaining the ship in the sea. The lives of the passengers hung in the volume for months on the ship, There was time when the Canadian Government was about to give the order to artillery guns mounted in the harbor, when the government came to know the intention of Canadian Sikhs to set the city of Vancouver on fire, Kerosene oil had beech collected in drums in the Gurdwara at the first sign of the guns.
