LUCKNOW (PTI): Former Chief Minister of India’s most populous stale was taken custody along with I Stats President of Rightwing BJP, Kalraj Mishra, at this Hindu Holi town of Hardwar while proceeding to Mussoorie.
They were proceeding to Mussoorie for an on the spot a scent of the situation following the police firing on agitators demanding a separate Uttarakhand ‘stat on September 2. Six persons including & police officer were in the firing and violent agitation. ‘
The official sources said the two BJP leaders were lodged in the Chidiaiur forest guest house near Haridwar.
The two were also detained “briefly in Bareilly disiricionScpi.4 while going to Khatima in Nainital district of the state where exchange of fire between agitators and police claimed five lives on Sept.1
Meanwhile, BJP senior vice President Sunder Singh Bandari strongly condemned the rear rest of Kalyan Singh in Kalraj Mishni while they were on their way to meet the leaders of the Uttrachanal agitation on Monday.
In a statement in New Delhi, Bhandari demanded their immediate release and that the Uttar Pradesh government forthwith slop the “repressive” measures being taken to tackle the Uttaranchal agitation.
He said the arrest of these two Leaders was unwarranted and uncalled for and was “highly pro vocative and smacks vindictive designs and motives of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government Bhandan warned the state governmental these measures would be counterproductive since the agitation for the formation of Uttaranchal was now a People’s movement.
