UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations general assembly has urged all parties to the conflict in Afghanistan to working urgently for a comprehensive settlement acceptable  to the Afghan people to end” protracted violence.

 In a resolution, it stressed on the need for an early start of the Intra Afghan dialogue for the establishment, through free and fair election, of a broad based government with participation of all segments of the people.

Among other things, it called for cessation of hostilities and creation of necessary conditions of peace and normalcy that would enable Afghan refugees to return “voluntarily to their homeland in safety and honor”.

 Calling for scrupulous implementation of the Geneva Accord, the assembly re affirmed the right of the Afghan people to determine their own form of govt and to choose their economic, political and social system free from outside intervention, subversion, coercion and constant of any kind.
