CHANDIGARH: The Indian army is Compiling a report on police atrocities on the public in rit won to well-informed sources.
The units have set up grievances cells at their bases and a large number of aggrieved persons are said to be pouring in to report against the police and other security forces. The people are reporting fake encounters, black mailing, extortions and tortures against the police and security forces.
Some of the allegations filed before the army units have been forwarded to the Central and state governments by the army commanders.
It is believed that the army officers are trying to socialize with the villagers through sarpanches and ex-service men and are even distributing medicines among the rural patients. They are also hearing the villagers on such matters as absenteeism among mural teachers, revenue officials and doctors. These complain are e also being forwarded to the government.
Until last week one crop had reached Punjab while two more are scheduled to come in the next few days.
