NEW DELHI: In a major step to check the forged passport menace the ministry of external affairs (MEA) has introduced the “most secured passport” or MSP which it claims is virtually impossible to tamper with
Numerous security features have been built into the MSP which show up when the passport is exposed to ultra-violent-rays O PGupta joint secretary (passports and visas) said.
As the old cardboard passports go out of circulation with the expiry of their validity over the next few years and more MSPS are issued the incidence of tampered or forged passports is expected to come down dramatically.
The MEA has received a favorable response to the MSP from various countries. Gupta said the feedback on India’s MSP was that it was almost tamperproof
