JALANDHAR: One Pakistan woman was killed and 19 other persons were injured in two incidents of firing on a running train in a week causing many an eyebrow to be raised.

The Pakistani woman killed in the last week’s incident has been identified as belonging to Multan district while one of the injured as a result of the second incident is said to be one Mohammed Jamil.

Incidentally in both the firing incidents the target was Samjhauta Express that runs between Attari the last Indian station on Indo-Pak border and Delhi. This train usually carries Pak Muslim passengers who come to India to meet their relations or on a pilgrimage.

No Sikh militant group has owned responsibility for either of the two incidents. It is customary for Sikh groups to issue Press Statements Owning responsibility for any action they take.

The firing incidents took place at a distance of two stations first in Ludhiana district near Kanech village on Sept.6 and the second in Patiala district near Mandi Gobindgarh on Sept 3. The state police was quick to attribute the incidents to militants without verifying the incidents.
