NEW DELHI-There is no possibility of the Left Front having a coalition with the Congress (1) in forming a government according to indications available here on Monday?

The Left parties have decided to stay with the National Front and any decision to support the government from outside on issue to issue basis has to be a joint one.

The politburo member of the CPI (M) Mr Harkishan Singh Surjeet quite categorically stated that they would support the government on issues remaining in the opposition. There is no such thing as a blanket or unconditional

Support to the Congress (I) which was clearly emerging as the single largest party expected to get more than 200 seats. However it is not likely to get a clear majority either on its own or with its allies the AIADMK according to present trends.

Among various possibilities the most natural one is the support from the Left and the National Front.

The CPI also shared the view that any future relationship with the Congress (I) would be decided jointly by the National Front and the Left. As Mr M Faroogi party’s national secretary put it we have fought as an alliance and we want to stay as alliance.

He said his party would not take a unilateral decision.
